“Coming together is the beginning.

It is amazing how fast time continues to
fly by, so much that we can hardly sit back and reflect
or we’ve missed another day! However, it is important
that we take the time to reflect on all that we
accomplish in 2008, and think about what we hope to
accomplish in 2009 and the events that we look forward
to!
One event that AAHIM delivers and allows
us to look forward to in 2009 is the Annual meeting.
The program co-chairs have put together a program that
is high in quality and valuable in content. As I write
this message, they have already obtained some of the
best speakers to assure you are getting the most for
your registration. Just to peak your interest, speakers
include Nelly Leon-Chisen, Director of Coding and
Classification at the AHA and head of the Central office
on ICD-9-CM for the coding session; Harry Rhodes from
AHIMA on Medical Identity Theft; Mary Reeves from the
AHIMA Board and Director of MIS at Vanderbilt on the EHR;
as well as Jean Clark on Joint Commission and RACs. I
am sure that you will leave the meeting with valuable
and current information. Please mark your calendar for
April 29 – May 1, 2009, and be sure to join your peers
at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach.
