AHIMA Townhall — June 12 _— Please Attend for Valuable Information

President/Chair’s Message to Component Associations

I hope everyone is enjoying these early days of summer (and if you’re in certain parts of the country, avoid the cicadas!) A lot is going on at AHIMA.  We are focused on hearing from YOU, our valuable members, about your needs and how AHIMA can better meet them.

  • Our inaugural Membership Town Hall will be held on June 12, 2024, at 12 p.m. CT. This is an excellent opportunity to keep our AHIMA members informed and engaged on topics that matter to you.  You’ll hear from AHIMA CEO Kevin Klauer and me, with AHIMA President/Chair-elect Maria Caban Alizondo moderating the discussion based on questions submitted by members on the issues that matter most.  The excitement is building for this event, so if you haven’t already registered, you can do so here.  Encourage your members to attend the Town Hall and submit their questions during the live event.  The attached toolkit is a helpful resource for this.  Many members have already signed up, so let’s keep the momentum going!
  • The Member Needs Survey is now live!  This year’s survey questions focus on Value, Membership Engagement, Service, and Professional Development.  The questions are intended to be more relevant to members’ needs and provide a better understanding of what our members are engaging in.  Your responses will help guide AHIMA in crafting solutions that best support and serve you and as invaluable resources for HI professionals.  In case you didn’t know, we have a friendly competition: The Component Association, with the highest level of engagement on the survey (as a percentage of members), will receive one complimentary registration to AHIMA24. So not only do you have a quick and easy way to provide feedback, but you also get the chance to win a complimentary registration!  Encourage your members to take the survey before it closes on June 28.  You can use the attached toolkit to help amplify the message.

I hope you will commit to taking the Member Needs Survey AND participating in the Member Town Hall.  These events are vital opportunities for you to share what’s important and make your voices heard about how AHIMA can work with our members to advance and grow our profession.  As I mentioned in my first President’s Message to you in January, recognizing and elevating our common bond to advance the HI profession has been a key focus of my engagement with you.  Your feedback is not just important; it is essential as we continue to strengthen this bond and build our community through transparency and candor.

I am available if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you for your service and for volunteering to lead our CA.
