Jefferson County Department of Health
Performs technical duties related to reviewing, processing, coding, analyzing, and abstracting data from medical and related records. Work includes maintaining medical records and files in a complete and orderly manner for availability to physicians and other authorized persons. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Health Information Director or Records Manager and is reviewed for accuracy, timeliness, and completion.
- Compiles, codes, and abstracts patient data according to the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) and/or Current Procedural Terminology (CPT).
- Reviews record requests and releases records to persons or agencies in accordance with State and Federal laws.

- Must possess a Registered Health Information Technician certification (RHIT) and/or a Registered Health Information Administrator certification (RHIA).
- Must have successfully completed the academic requirements, at an associate’s degree level, of a Health Information Management program
