During a lively 2-hour presentation, William Haik MD will present a potpourri of high-impact clinical entities which are heavily scrutinized by third-party reviewers for clinical validation.
Updated evidence-based and referenced definitions of these conditions will be provided to the seminar attendees.

Kathryn DeVault is the manager for HIM Consulting Services for United Audit Systems, Inc. (UASI), based in Cincinnati, OH. She has over 25 years of experience within the health information management arena. Prior to joining UASI in March 2014, she served as the senior director of HIM coding, and reimbursement for AHIMA, from 2008 to 2014. Named one of the top ten CDI professionals by ACDIS in 2017, Ms. DeVault has been one of the primary ICD-10-CM/PCS content developers and instructors for the AHIMA ICD-10-CM/PCS Academy since 2009. She has authored and provided support for AHIMA online coding education and also served as a technical advisor for the Association on ICD-9-CM, ICD-10, and CPT coding publications. Kathryn has presented numerous seminars and educational sessions on coding and HIM-related topics.
William E. Haik, MD, FCCP, CDIP
William E. Haik, M.D., F.A.C.C.P., C.D.I.P., AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer, has practiced medicine in Fort Walton Beach, Florida since 1980. He has received board certification in internal, pulmonary, and critical care medicine. Dr. Haik’s past professional accomplishments include: Chief of Internal Medicine, Director of Respiratory Care Services, Board of Trustees at his local hospital, President of the Okaloosa County Medical Society, and representative of the Government Liaison Committee for the American College of Chest Physicians.
Dr. Haik’s coding background has included AHA’s Editorial Advisory Board and Expert Advisory Panel of Coding Clinic for ICD-9-CM as well as participation in the preparation of the original AHIMA CCS and CDIP examinations. Additionally, he helped develop the Served on a multi-disciplinary committee for the development of the 2010, 2013, and 2018 AHIMA: Guidelines for Achieving a Compliant Query Practice and the 2018 AHIMA: Guidelines for Physician Office Query Practice
Dr. Haik’s clinical documentation background has included serving on the original Board for the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist and aided in the preparation of the first certification examination.
Dr. Haik’s compliance background has included working as the final arbitrator for Medicare Part C MS-DRG determinations and as an expert consultant to the United States Department of Justice and presently serves on the Advisory Board of HCPro’s Briefings on Coding Compliance Strategies.
Dr. Haik has conducted educational seminars and national teleconferences regarding physician involvement in DRG management, coding, and other related topics in association with HCFA (CMS), AHA, AHIMA, ACDIS, HCPro, and various state Quality Improvement Organizations (see list of Health Information Presentations).
Since 1988, he has served as the Director of DRG Review, Inc., a physician directed hospital coding consultative service. The goal of DRG Review, Inc. is to educate medical and coding staffs in medical record documentation and coding compliance.

Discounts are automatically reflected once four registrants are added to a single registration.
Cancellation
Anyone who pays registration fees and cannot attend the event may send a substitute.
Cancellations prior to the close of online registration will be refunded the registration fee minus a $25 processing fee. If you do not cancel your registration, then you will be billed the registration fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations after the close of online registration.
